General improvements to all the existing trails as assessed by the work parties.
ITEMS
* Cost Estimates are very rough and exclude any value for volunteer labour.
STATUS OR PLAN
Some of these projects are small and will be done by the Volunteers and Work Parties over a reasonable time. Where some costs are shown for these it is probable that regular memberships will cover.

One the other hand, there are some large projects and these will probably stretch over a few years as funds need to be raised. This is where you come in -

Signage
Parking Lot

Some new signage along the trails.

Main Entrance Large Display Board and possible shelter

Possible rare rhododendron patches established in off trail areas.
Assessment of frog and salamander habitats and preservation and encouraging these critters.
An interpretive centre for giving presentations about the forest to school groups (might double as community hall for east side of inlet)
Need several of different types. Parks department have indicated they may supply some old ones. Also may supply the expensive part - the metal blanks for printing locally. Estimate:$200

We are learning and some signs do not show clearly the area that the post  guides one to. Estimate:$20

Major Item. This would be a roofed cedar unit holding sign boards for directions, notices and honoring donors - maybe a large overall map. Plans have been completed and West Coast Homes have agreed to donae the structure. We will need to buy the metal room and install if and the signage. Estimate:$3000
A patch of potential plants hidden north of Roberts Creek has been investigated and we intend to confer with the Botanical Society on this. Estimate: $100
We have been in contact with Rick O'Neill - local expert - (see website) and after an inventory of current wetlands some decisions may be made. Estimate: $100
Could provide for:EDUCATIONAL FEATURES: school classes from not only local schools but also those from afar on day trips will heavily use the entire park. The educational experience will be enhanced and encouraged by:
A ´Gathering Space or mini amphitheatre set in the trees providing bench seating in a curved set up with a podium area for a teacher to speak from. The podium would sit upon a small stage area for easier viewing of presentations.
Interpretive signage would be set out describing:
·      The native plants and fauna for the area,
·      The salmon enhancement program including the wetlands of Davis
Brook which are within the park area
·      Historical highlights of the area
·      First Nations history and lore of the area.
COMMUNITY FEATURES: Possible meeting place for local and nearby Associations.
Cost Estimate: $100,000

Additional parking spots probably  to the right side going in - in slots without taking trees down and maybe towards SIR road.
Next after Handicap trail is advanced. Probably 2012-13. Cost Estimate: $1500 - $2500
2nd Handicap Trail
This is a new proposal. The first trail went so well we can see that a 2nd trail from the main entrance to the bluff (Green Trail near 17) and looping back would be good. See page for more   Cost Estimate: $15,000 plus in-kind and volunteer
